{"id":24861,"date":"2020-12-05T11:33:49","date_gmt":"2020-12-05T18:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/?p=24861"},"modified":"2021-09-17T11:19:12","modified_gmt":"2021-09-17T21:19:12","slug":"green-energy-double-talk-begins-first-major-oil-producer-announces-deadline-to-end-oil-extraction-but-theres-a-catch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/green-energy-double-talk-begins-first-major-oil-producer-announces-deadline-to-end-oil-extraction-but-theres-a-catch\/","title":{"rendered":"GREEN ENERGY DOUBLE-TALK BEGINS:  First Major Oil Producer Announces Deadline to End Oil Extraction, But There&#8217;s A Catch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Washington Post article published yesterday, Denmark was the first major oil-producing country to announce a deadline to end oil extraction.\u00a0 While this may sound like a &#8220;Victory&#8221; for the Green Energy Movement, there&#8217;s a catch.\u00a0 While Denmark announced that it would end all oil extraction by 2050, the country will likely run out of oil reserves well before that date.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>I find this quite hilarious because all anyone has to do is look at a bit of data, and you can find out that Denmark&#8217;s oil-producing days are quickly coming to an end&#8230; WITH OR WITHOUT GREEN ENERGY.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post article titled, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/europe\/denmark-phaseout-oil-production\/2020\/12\/04\/c5559eb4-35b0-11eb-9699-00d311f13d2d_story.html?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=wp_main&amp;utm_medium=social\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Denmark becomes first major oil-producing nation to set deadline to end extraction<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, stated the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The decision was applauded by some environmental activists, with Greenpeace celebrating it as a \u201cwatershed moment,\u201d although other groups had hoped for a faster timeline.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Denmark\u2019s new rules mean companies will be barred from receiving new licenses to search for and extract oil and gas resources. Previously issued licenses will remain valid until 2050.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Denmark is the top oil producer in the European Union, but it has come under mounting pressure as the E.U. aims to become carbon-neutral within the next 30 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cIt\u2019s a historic decision for Denmark,\u201d Dan J\u00f8rgensen, the Danish climate and energy minister, told The Washington Post in an interview Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Please note the BOLDED text in the quote from the article above.\u00a0 What a laugh indeed.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>&#8220;The decision was applauded by some environmental activists??&#8221;\u00a0 Are you kidding me??\u00a0 Even Greenpeace celebrated it as a &#8220;WATERSHED MOMENT.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Listen, I really admire some of the work being done by Greenpeace, but this is pure BOLLOCKS.<\/p>\n<p>And what is even more hilarious is the Danish climate and energy minister, stating that it was a &#8220;HISTORIC DECISION.&#8221;\u00a0 Seriously, what are these leaders smoking nowadays?\u00a0 This is nothing more but worthless political pandering.<\/p>\n<p>Why?\u00a0 Let&#8217;s look at the data.\u00a0 First, here is Denmark&#8217;s oil production from 2005 to Aug 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-24863\" src=\"https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Denmark-Oil-Production-2005-AUG-2020.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Denmark-Oil-Production-2005-AUG-2020.png 922w, https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Denmark-Oil-Production-2005-AUG-2020-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Denmark-Oil-Production-2005-AUG-2020-768x480.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>In 2005, Denmark was producing 380,000 barrels per day (bd), but it was down to 68,000 bd in August of this year.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Part of the decline could be covid related, but as we can see, production has been steadily declining.\u00a0 While Denmark&#8217;s oil consumption has also been declining, the country became a net importer in 2015, if we look at the chart below.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-24865\" src=\"https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Denmarks-Oil-Consumption-2005-AUG-2020.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Denmarks-Oil-Consumption-2005-AUG-2020.png 947w, https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Denmarks-Oil-Consumption-2005-AUG-2020-300x182.png 300w, https:\/\/srsroccoreport.com\/public\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Denmarks-Oil-Consumption-2005-AUG-2020-768x467.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In 2015, Denmark produced 158,000 bd but consumed 161,000 bd.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong> In August this year, Denmark was a net importer of 80,000 bd (148,000-68,000 bd).<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 What else can we take away from this besides the Denmark energy and climate minister being totally disingenuous in looking at this data?\u00a0 I tweeted about this yesterday:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WHAT A JOKE&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>With Denmark&#39;s oil production falling 73% in the last 15 years, the country would probably run out of reserves by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>So, to say that Denmark will set a deadline for 2050 to end oil production when it would likely run out&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; is disingenuous at best. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/i95ZEwcSRn\">https:\/\/t.co\/i95ZEwcSRn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; SRSrocco Report (@SRSroccoReport) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SRSroccoReport\/status\/1334887931262062592?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 4, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>And, if we go by the 2020 BP Statistical Review, Denmark&#8217;s total oil reserves are about 400 million barrels.\u00a0 Thus, if Denmark produces 100,000 bd, that equals about 36 million barrels in a year.\u00a0 This means the 400 million barrels of reserves may last 12-13 years.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>If production declines, they might be able to stretch it to 2050&#8230;
